Bucs Trade Zuttah to Ravens

Posted Mar 23, 2014

Tampa Bay will receive an undisclosed pick in the 2015 draft for Zuttah, who started most of last season at center, a position that newcomer Evan Dietrich-Smith is expected to fill in 2014

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive line will definitely have a new look in 2014.

On Sunday, the Buccaneers agreed to a trade that sends Jeremy Zuttah to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for an undisclosed pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Zuttah started 16 games on Tampa Bay’s offensive line in 2013, 14 of them at center, but that position will be filled in 2014 by recent free agency acquisition Evan Dietrich-Smith.

In fact, at least three of the team’s five starting spots on the offensive front will be in different hands in 2014. The Buccaneers previously released left tackle Donald Penn and right guard Davin Joseph; the former position will be manned by free agency pickup Anthony Collins while several, including Jamon Meredith and newcomer Oniel Cousins will be in the mix at the latter position.

In fact, Tampa Bay’s entire roster will have a new look this season under the new management team of Head Coach Lovie Smith and General Manager Jason Licht. The Bucs have already signed 10 unrestricted free agents since the start of the new league year on March 11, and they have only re-signed a small handful of the 19 players from the 2013 roster who were headed for unrestricted free agency.

Zuttah was a third-round draft pick out of Rutgers in 2008. He appeared in 90 games and opened 76 over his six seasons as a Buccaneer, including starts at all three interior-line positions.
